Laser hair removal FAQ’s

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A concentrated beam of light is aimed at the target area to be treated. The light is absorbed by the pigment of the hair which damages the follicle with the heat it generates. Lasers can remove hair for anywhere from several months to years, as the results differ widely from person to person.

WHAT IS IT FOR?

The GentleMax Pro is used for Laser hair removal including ingrown hair, facial spider veins, leg veins, sun spots anywhere on the body as well as skin rejuvenation.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Laser hair removal procedures impair the growth of hair follicles when they are in the growth cycle at the time of the procedure. There are three phases in a person’s hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen, this is why you need more than one session. Having up to six sessions is necessary to obtain desired results.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?

The technician delivers the pulses over the area to be treated. During the session, many compare the feeling of the laser’s pulse as a stinging sensation or a snap of a rubber band. Although everyone does have different levels of sensitivity it is not a very painful treatment. Topical anaesthetic can be applied prior if needed.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?

The procedure time is determined by the size of the area you are treating. For example hair removal on a male back or female legs would take anywhere between 30-45 mins, where as underarms is approximately 5-10 mins.

IS IT SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

Yes, the procedure is safe, and our laser can treat ALL skin types since it is equipped with the 755 nm Alexandrite laser as well as the deeper wavelength 1064nm YAG. Avoid any irritating skin creams such as AHA’s, retinols, acne topical creams, skin lighteners 1 week before your procedure.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY PROCEDURE?

Some clients may experience a slight reddening around the hair follicles immediately following the procedure as well as mild rashes, this reaction typically disappears within a few hours. After your laser treatment the Clinician will apply some soothing lotion over the area. The use of sunscreen at or above 25 SPF is recommended on all skin areas exposed to the sun for approximately the next four weeks following the laser procedure.

IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME?

Although it is important to take into consideration the treatment you’ve just had, which might require you to keep at a minimum anything that might aggravate the slight reddening of the skin or local swelling, you can immediately return to your normal daily activities.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?

Results of the treatment are gradual. One to two days after your first session you will have a smoother looking and feeling skin. As your hair regrows, they will be fewer, finer, and weaker. As you continue your treatments you will notice a significant reduction in hair regrowth.

Fractional COLaser
Skin Re-Surfacing

CO2 laser therapy offers a one-time effective treatment to improve the overall condition of your skin by stimulating your own collagen production.

By precisely removing damaged skin layer by layer, a CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatment also lessens the appearance of scars and many other skin imperfections such as uneven pigmentation, photodamage, precancerous spots and benign lesions.

This type of laser treatment often requires a few days of downtime, however the results are better and longer lasting than peels or other less- invasive laser solutions.

CO2 Laser Resurfacing FAQ’s

HOW DOES A CO2 LASER WORK?

A carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is used to resurface the skin by removing the outer layers of damaged skin to reveal the softer, smoother, and younger looking skin below.
