Avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment.
Shave the treatment area within 24-48 hours prior to treatment.
Stop any topical medications or skin care products 3-5 days prior to treatment.
Self tanning products and retinol creams must be discontinued one week before treatment.
The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or to tanning booth light 15 days prior to treatment and 15 days after treatment.
Do not apply and perfumes, deodorant or makeup to the treatment area the day of your treatment.
No deodorant for 24-48 hours after underarm treatment.
Immediately after treatment, you may experience slight redness, swelling around the hair follicles and mild discomfort similar to a sunburn. You may use Tylenol and apply cool packs.
Do not rub or pick the treated area or use any abrasive scrubs/loofahs for at least 5 days.
Avoid hot water/saunas/Jacuzzis for 3 days.
If a crust develops, apply ointment twice daily to keep the area moist until healed.
Contact our office if the area shows signs of infection or blistering.
Use sunblock for the duration of your treatments.
After your treatment, the hair may appear to grow for up to two weeks. This is simply the treated hair being shed from the follicle and is not new growth.
Shaving is recommended between sessions. Electrolysis, waxing, threading, tweezing or plucking is to be avoided.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
We recommend that for 7 days pre-treatment you moisturize skin in the morning and evening, AND drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin to optimize treatment results.
Do not use self-tanning lotions or tanning booths two weeks prior to your laser treatment. Do not sunbathe two weeks prior to your appointment.
Do not use any irritating skin care products such as Retin-A, OBAGI, or any face cream supplement that contains Hydroquinone or Glyquin for one week prior to treatment.
Avoid taking NSAIDs such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, aspirin for 1 week prior to scheduled procedure.
First 24 hrs after procedure:
It is imperative to keep your skin moist and protected by using either Vaseline, Aquaphor or Cilcalfate) at all times. Even indoors, use a zinc based sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more. Stay indoors. AVOID sun exposure.
Warm, itching and burning sensations are common, if they they exist apply a cold compress moistened in a solution of vinegar and water (1tbsp vinegar to 1 cup water) or get thermal spring water available in pharmacies (brands: avene, vichy, la roche-posay, uriage etc) and use it as needed.
Avoid smoking to help speed recovery.
Swelling and pain is to be expected and can last 24-48 hrs Take Tylenol as required.
Try not to touch your skin to prevent infection
Stay hydrated by drinking water
Do not apply makeup or any other product other than what is listed above.
Do not shower for the first 24 hrs.
After 24 hrs:
You can rinse your face gently with clean hands and fresh water (do not use soap or brush)
Send a picture to MediSpa by email without cream or sunscreen. Your clinician will use this photo to determine when you can start to resume the use of makeup and your other regular beauty products.
Continue to apply vaseline, aquaphor or cicalfate and suncreen.
DO NOT exfoliate, scrub or remove scabs. Let your skin heal naturally
Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. If you need to be outdoors, use sunblock with a SPF of 30 or higher.
Avoid analgesics 24 hrs before the treatment. Tylenol is OK.
Please inform the MediSpa team if you are taking any medication, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, if you have a skin condition such as vitiligo, psoriasis, melasma, rosacea, perioral herpes simplex virus or hypertrophic/keloid scar or others.
The intended treatment area should not be exposed to tanning booth light 15 days prior to treatment and 15 days after treatment.
If having laser vein removal treatment of the legs, please shave the area and do not apply lotion to legs on the day of your appointment.
Cold gel packs can be applied to reduce any discomfort.
Try to elevate your legs at night after the treatment.
Tylenol is recommended if you have any pain.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce hyperpigmentation. Use a broad spectrum suncreen with a SPF 30 or more.
Your clinician will advise you when you can resume exercise as in some cases, 48 hours is recommended.
Your leg veins may appear bruised or darker red following the treatment. This discoloration will fade over the next few weeks.
If blistering occurs, contact MediSpa.
Some veins will take more than 1 session. Your clinician will advise you if you need subsequent treatments.
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications. Tylenol is OK
If you are prone to bruising, you may want to try Arnica pills 2 days prior to treatment. These are available in any pharmacy without prescription.
Do not use Retin-A or chemical peels 24 hrs before treatment
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending
Please let your doctor know If you have a dermatological condition, allergies, history of cold sores, if you are taking medication, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Do not rub the skin in the area that was injected for the first 24 hours after the injection.
No lying down or bending face forward in the first two hours after injection.
No exercising for the first 24 hours after injection. Avoid wearing head bands or hats for 24 hours following injection.
The full effect of the injection may not be noticed until about 10-14 days after the injection depending on what product was used..
For the first few hours following injection, it is recommended that you ice the area a few times for 15 minutes each time to minimize the swelling. Do not apply ice directly on skin in order to avoid burning.
To minimize bruising, you can apply an Arnica cream/gel.
Keep in mind that it is entirely normal that you have redness in the injected area.
For patients having volume lift, we recommend you sleep on your back for the first night following your injection.
Avoid touching the treated area for 24 hours.
No specific pre-treatment instructions although you may want to wear comfortable clothing A bathing suit it is recommended in the event the thigh area is to be treated.
If you bruise easily, you may want to take Arnica pills which are available in any pharmacy without prescription.
You may feel some discomfort in which case you can use Tylenol and/or Advil . It is normal to experience numbness for up to 4 weeks. In some cases, you may experience neuropathic pain. If it persists, contact MediSpa.
