Mommy Makeover

A “Mommy Makeover” is a combination of plastic surgery procedures that address changes in a woman’s body after pregnancy. Mommy makeover can treat cosmetic concerns such as loose skin, stretch marks and excess fat of the abdomen and/or thighs, as well as improve the appearance of breasts.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to a mommy makeover — it can be a combination of a number of different procedures such as liposuction, breast surgery and/or a tummy tuck depending on your desired outcome.

Daddy Do Over

A “Daddy Do Over” is a combination of plastic surgery procedures designed for men who are looking for a “feel good about myself” intervention. Daddy Do Over’s can treat cosmetic concerns such as loose skin, and excess fat of the abdomen and/or thighs, as well as address man boobs.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to a daddy do over — it can be a combination of a number of different procedures such as liposuction, breast reduction surgery and/or a tummy tuck depending on your desired outcome.

Breast surgeries

Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is an outpatient surgical procedure, which involves inserting silicone gel or saline filled implants in order to add volume, repair or reshape your breasts.

Together with Dr. Dionisopoulos your preferences and anatomy will determine the type of implant and surgical approach best suited for you.

What are the benefits of breast augmentation?

In addition to improving your self-confidence and body image, breast augmentation surgery can transform the size and shape of your breasts following childbirth, breast feeding, and/or significant weight loss.

Dr. Dionisopoulos also performs breast augmentation to reconstruct breast following mastectomy and to correct imbalance in size or symmetry of breasts.

What is the difference between saline and silicone breast implants?

Dr. Dionisopoulos uses silicone and saline breast implants both of which have similar safety profiles.

It’s important to understand the differences between these types of implants:

  • Saline implants are filled with sterilized salt water. This type of implant is filled after it is placed in the body, which allows for a smaller incision than a silicone implant. Saline implants are also generally less expensive than silicone.
  • Silicone implants contain cohesive silicone gel that patients often say feels more like natural breast tissue than saline implants. Because they maintain their form, these implants are available in a greater variety of shapes and sizes.
How much time off do I need after a breast augmentation surgery?

Most patients need 1-2 weeks off work or school after having breast augmentation surgery. Exercises and normal sporting activities can be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure.

Gynecomastia (Man Boobs)

Breast reduction surgery is not just for women. Some men develop excessive breast tissue, called gynecomastia, which can lead to feelings of embarrassment in situations where they may be expected not to wear a shirt.

This condition is common and has many causes including heredity – chances are if your father suffered from the condition, you will as well; obesity and poor diet, aging –bodies change shape and get fuller as we get older. Gynecomastia can be corrected with a combination of liposuction and minor surgery to remove excessive breast tissue with minimal scarring as an outpatient surgery.

How much time off do I need after a surgery?

A swift and uneventful recovery following breast lifting allows most patients to return to work within a few days following surgery. Exercises and normal sporting activities can be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks.

Inverted nipples

Inverted nipples can look flat or slit-like or a hole in the normal nipple location. This is a common development occurrence mostly due mostly to genetics but can also occur following some types of breast surgery. 10% of women have inverted nipples but are often too embarrassed to ask for advice.

Will my nipples have the same sensation after inverted nipple correction surgery?

Yes they will. During surgery, though the nipple ducts are divided, the muscle in the nipple wall remains intact. It will still be able to contract as it did before surgery, so the nipple will respond to touch and cold as normal and sensation will generally be the same.

How is nipple inversion corrected?

The nipple is carefully lifted into its erect position and small incision is made at its base. The ducts within the nipple are then carefully divided allowing the nipple to remain in the outward position.

How long does it take to recover after inverted nipple correction surgery?

Recovery time after inverted nipple correction surgery is relatively short, as the procedure is performed under local anesthetic. You’ll only need to wear a small, unobtrusive dressing on your nipples, and should be fine to return to work the day after surgery.

You’ll probably want to wear looser clothing for a few days afterwards so your dressing won’t show, and also to avoid any unnecessary pressure or chafing.

Can I combine breast enlargement with inverted nipple correction?

If you’re unhappy with your breast size or shape as well as your inverted nipples, it’s possible to treat both at the same time. In fact, it’s the best approach, as it means you only need one operation and one anesthetic. Dr. Dionisopoulos often perform breast enlargement and inverted nipple surgery together.

Mastopexy (Breast Lift)

A breast lift (Mastopexy) is usually performed only once breast development has ended, with some exceptions. While some women opt to have a breast lift after experiencing the changes associated with pregnancy and breast-feeding, many decide to undergo the procedure at a younger age. Since the milk ducts and nipples are left intact, breast lift surgery usually will not affect your ability to breast-feed.

Dr. Dionisopoulos will discuss with you the type of breast lift you are best suited for and whether or not implants should be considered.

Am I a candidate for a Mastopexy?

You may be a good candidate for Mastopexy if your breast are sagging, lack firmness, and/or appear “deflated”. Mastopexy can also address breast asymmetries as well as size, shape, and nipple position.

How much time off do I need after a mastopexy surgery?

Most patients need 1-2 weeks off work or school after having breast mastopexy surgery. Exercises and normal sporting activities can be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure.

Breast Asymmetry Correction

Most women have breasts that are a bit different! One may be larger, smaller, have an odd shape or form or perhaps hang lower than the other. In some women however, this difference is a source of great embarrassment and concern especially when the asymmetry between their breasts is noticeable. Some cases are corrected with a simple procedure on only one breast while more complicated cases may require surgery on both breasts to achieve the desired goals.

While each patient’s concerns are different, together with Dr. Dionisopoulos the best method of correcting the differences will be made taking into consideration your preferences and body type. Using the combined techniques of lifting, reconstruction and augmentation the breasts and nipples are positioned in a youthful position on the chest and all differences in position, volume, projection and form corrected as best as possible.

Am I a candidate for a breast asymmetry correction procedure?

The ideal candidates for a breast asymmetry correction procedure are healthy women who have realistic expectations of surgical outcomes. You may be a good candidate for a breast correction procedure if you have breasts that are uneven (asymmetrical breasts), are self conscious about the shape and size of your areola or nipple position, and/or are dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about the size and shape of your breasts.

Body surgeries

Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries in North America. Many people choose this procedure to refine certain areas that have not responded to healthy eating and consistent exercise. With minimal “down time”, liposuction is a safe reliable method of removing fat and sculpting the body.

Dr. Dionisopoulos contours his patients’ bodies through tumescent liposuction, improving curves and slimming flabby areas. The fat cells that are removed do not return and so the results can be permanent. While most are women, increasingly men also seek liposuction to help with unwanted collections of fat. Most people present for liposuction in order to slim their tummy, flanks, thighs, and inner knee area.

Am I a candidate for liposuction?

Liposuction is not a treatment for weight loss. If you are in good health, a non-smoker, and have realistic expectations about the outcome of your procedure, you are probably a good candidate for liposuction.

What kind of anesthesia will be required?

A very light general anesthesia is the preferred method of anesthesia. Smaller procedures can be performed under local anesthesia with or without intravenous sedation.

When can I resume my normal activities?

Most patients return to light activity and work within 2-3 days after liposuction and normal physical activity, including sports after 3-4 weeks.

Can I have other procedures done at the same time?

Yes, patients frequently combine liposuction with a wide variety of other cosmetic procedures including breast surgery and tummy tuck.

Before & After Photos
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is a surgical procedure to remove loose or excess skin and fat, tightening stretched and separated muscles, and eliminating or improving the appearance of scars of the lower abdomen.

A tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure, and it will leave scar. Abdominoplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. Most patients return to normal activities in 2 to 3 weeks.

Am I a candidate for a tummy tuck?

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are in overall good health and at a stable weight.

What should I expect during recovery after a Tummy Tuck?

Pain is typically moderate and may be controlled with prescription medication. Small drain tubes are left in place for a week or more to prevent bruising and the buildup of fluid. Scars will be elevated, thick, and red for a few months before gradually fading over the course of a year.

How much time off do I need after a Tummy Tuck?

Most patients need at least two weeks off work or school after having a tummy tuck. Trying to return sooner will be difficult, can result in more bruising and will slow down the entire healing process. Exercises and normal sporting activities can be resumed within 4 to 6 weeks.

Before & After Photos
Labiaplasty (Intimate surgery)

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce in the size and enhance the shape women’s genetalia. A woman’s vulva or external genitalia contain two sets of labia, also referred to as “lips;” labia minora (inner lips), and labia majora (outer lips). Large labia may be genetic or possibly develop with age or after giving birth.

Although there to provide protection for the clitoris and the vaginal opening, in some women, excessively large labia can make a women uncomfortable in front of her sexual partner, when wearing tight pants or while participating in sports and exercise. During labiaplasty, one or both sets of labia may be trimmed, reshaped, shortened, made thinner, or corrected to gain symmetry.

What is the recovery process like after a labiaplasty?

Recovery time after labiaplasty varies from patient to patient but you can resume your normal activities after one week. Sexual intercourse and vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least four weeks following labiaplasty.

Although labiaplasty is a simple procedure with little to no risk involved you may experience bruising and swelling of the genitals for a few weeks after your surgery. This is normal and will improve as your body heals.

Will anyone be able to tell that I had labiaplasty?

No. There are no visible scars, and the incision lines blend into the natural crease of the labia, and fade over time.

Brazilian butt lift

A Brazilian butt lift is a butt augmentation procedure that uses liposuction to harvest fat from one or more areas of the body to inject into the butt cheeks and the outer hips. It can address a range of concerns, including flat or sagging buttocks, asymmetry, or other disproportions sometimes due to massive weight loss.

Is a Brazilian butt lift right for me?

Good candidates are close to their ideal weight with enough fat for liposuction, such as the abdomen, love handles, back, and thighs. The skin in these areas also needs to have good elasticity to avoid sagging. A consultation with Dr. Dionisopoulos will determine if you are a candidate for surgery.

Face surgeries

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)

Blepharoplasty can reverse the effects of aging around the eyes. The eyelids are one of the first to show signs of aging such as lower eyelid puffiness, dark circles or drooping upper eyelids. By removing the fat and excess skin a more youthful and rested look is restored. The greatest benefit of this “scarless” outpatient procedure is that the results are long lasting and the scar can be hidden in the upper eyelid crease.

Who is a candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Good candidates for eyelid surgery are men or women who have:

· Bags or puffy bulges under the eyes (fatty deposits)
· Fullness of the upper eyelids (fatty deposits)
· Excess skin diminishing the natural fold of the upper eyelids
· Excess skin and wrinkling of the eyelids
· Impaired vision due to hanging skin on the upper eyelid

What is recovery like after Blepharoplasty?

Most patients need a week off work after having Blepharoplasty. Your eyelids will be swollen, bruised and puffy after eyelid surgery, and your vision may be blurry. The bruising, swelling and puffiness disappears within 7-10 days and you will be able to cover up any discoloration with makeup.

Earlobe repair

Torn or split earlobes are repaired by carefully exposing fresh tissue on both torn edges and then meticulously suturing the edges so that they mesh together seamlessly without notching. The earlobe can easily be split when the tissue becomes thin, either by the weight of earrings or through trauma when the earring is accidently ripped out of the lobe. This outpatient surgical procedure uses local anesthetic. Once completed patients report minimal pain and can return to their normal activities.
